Ideosync Media Combine is a not-for-profit organization based in the National Capital Region of Delhi, India. Ideosync works on communication for social change (C4SC) and communication rights.
We design communication frameworks and strategies for development interventions; as well as conceptualize and produce social change communication content (audio, visual, print and multimedia) through a rigorous process of community participation and formative research. Ideosync advocates for open, free and publicly owned media and works towards innovating with existing and new technologies to ensure equity of access to (and community ownership of) communication tools, technologies and media.
Ideosync works on media development by supporting community media (including community radio) through training on participatory content creation, knowledge sharing, and peer learning practice; as well as innovations around participatory research. Over the last two decades, we have been at the forefront of work in the South Asian region on creating alternate discourses on communication, communication rights, media, and media technologies. During this time, our work in communication for social change has engaged with issues that address marginalized concerns including sexual and reproductive health; adolescent sexuality and rights; gender and women’s rights; health; migrant rights; local self-governance; right to information and entitlements; environment and climate change; governance; democracy and freedom of expression.
We are looking for innovative, enthusiastic and creative young professionals with competencies in the field of media and communication, community engagement and trainings to work as part of the Ideosync team.
About the Program
Ideosync has three ongoing programs that the applicant will be required to support: The FreeDem Digital Media Literacy program for women and girls (www.freedem.in ) This is a community based didgital media and literacy program. You may like to look at the podcasts the girls being trained under this program are producing here. The IUIF program (www.iuif.in) . This is a youth Initiative that works with young people across the country. The Community Radio Initiative that Ideosync supports where we work with community Radio stations from across the country to collaborate on critical issues like Fact check trainings; gender equality etc. Currently our DMIL program is being implemented in High schools across three states.
About the Position
Your role will require you to support program teams to
Implement regular activities in particular delivering the DMIl curriculum in high school classrooms at Government schools
Actively support the FreeDem Pathshala /community training work
Support active participation stakeholders
Design simple materials and write-ups
Support and assist with ongoing capacity-building work, and research
Write reports and take photographs to document ongoing activities
Qualifications
Excellent English and Hindi writing and speaking skills. Additional Languages an asset
Media and communication training with atleast graduation degree in the field. Journalism, Fact Checking or News literacy courses if done will be valued.
Gender training and previous work on Gender and Technology
Excellent coordination and people skills
Excellent understanding of technology, website functioning, online media and social media
Fluency with computers especially all word processing and data software and ability to create presentations in MS PowerPoint, and manage reporting through the use of Microsoft Office tools
Have problem-solving skills and with the capacity to think independently and creatively
Be detail-oriented and have patience with community members and their skill sets
A minimum of one year’s experience in communication or related fields or an excellent internship record
Photography, video, and audio production skills are valuable
Contract and Remuneration
Ideosync will contract the Program Associate for a period of two year with the possibility of extension. There will be a three-month period of probation. Remuneration will be in accordance with Ideosync's salary and fee scale policy and in keeping with the incumbent’s experience and qualifications; and will be comparable to national averages for not-for-profits working in the development sector. Fresh graduates from undergraduate or master’s program in communication are welcome to apply but must be prepared to undertake a swift learning curve.
